Combine conservation on horseback in the bush at Imire, with a working horse riding holiday in Mozambique. Experience some of the best horse riding in the world, on the shores of the Indian Ocean.

The perfect combination of volunteering and adventure - all on horseback!

There’s no better way to experience Africa than on the back of a horse. This combined volunteer programme gives you the opportunity to explore the African bush in Zimbabwe, interacting with iconic African wildlife, and the experience of caring for horses in Africa’s finest beach riding destination.

Spend two or more weeks at Imire, riding 5 days a week, help with anti-poaching and conservation programmes and interact with rhinos and elephants.

Then take a short flight to Mozambique, where you will join a family of Zimbabweans who moved more than 100 horses from Zimbabwe to Mozambique in 2006, to ensure a better life for their beloved animals.

Beach Safaris and Volunteering in Mozambique

The perfect working holiday in one of the world’s finest beach riding destinations. Long stretches of untouched, white sandy beaches and amazing coastal trail rides beckon, as you join horse safaris next to the turquoise seas of the Indian Ocean.

Volunteers on the project in Mozambique assist staff with the care and welfare of the 70+ resident horses and ponies. You will accompany clients on beach, island and coastal rides and be the programme's ambassador on these excursions. With so many horses needing daily care and exercise, plus an on-site riding school and daily rides onto the beaches and coastal areas, volunteers must be confident, sociable and able to use their own initiative.
